Old Lyme — Ann Augusta (Folmar) Montmeat, 102, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in Old Lyme.

Ann was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Troy, Ala., to Lois Wiley and Marshall Bibb Folmar. Her grandfathe­r, Oliver Cicero Wiley, had been a member of the United States House of Representa­tives. Third of six children, she graduated from Troy High School in 1933, and later attended The University of Alabama. In late August 1942, while working at Maxwell Field, she met John Kurt Montmeat. They were married on Oct. 10, 1942, and lived in New Canaan for more than 50 years where Ann was assistant town clerk. Ann loved traveling with her husband to visit the great museums in Europe. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Ann is survived by a sister, Miriam Folmar of Atlanta; her son, Jay Montmeat and daughter-in-law, Yvonne Montmeat, both of Old Lyme; daughter, Martha Harre and son-in-law, James Harre, of Alta Loma, Calif.; five grandchild­ren, Kendall Creighton of Berlin, Germany, James Harre Jr. of Longmeadow, Mass., Ashley Harre of Portland, Ore., Jack Montmeat of Old Lyme, and Brit Montmeat of Vernon; nieces and nephews; and eleven great-grandchild­ren.

Ann was predecease­d by her loving husband of 66 years, John Kurt Montmeat; her parents, Lois Wiley and Marshall Bibb Folmar; her stepmother, Miriam Pearson Folmar; her brothers, Wilson Bibb Folmar II, Oliver Wiley Folmar, James Murphree Folmar and Emory McCord Folmar.
