Flock Theatre extends show times for ‘Long Day’s Journey Into Night’

Due to high demand for tickets, Flock Theatre has extended its production of Eugene O’Neill’s “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” for two additional weekends. Instead of ending May 6, it will now run through May 20 on Saturdays and Sundays.

For most performanc­es, the first half begins at 3 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35. On April 21 and 28 and May 5, though, there are only special day-long performanc­es, which start at 9 a.m. and continue at various times throughout the day. Tickets are $45, and the April 21 and May 5 shows are sold out.

Tickets for Flock’s six originally scheduled production­s are still available, though availabili­ty is extremely limited. The show will take place in New London’s Monte Cristo Cottage, the boyhood summer home of O’Neill and the location where the play is set.

Considered O’Neill’s magnum opus, “Long Day’s Journey” is an autobiogra­phical exercise in forgivenes­s for his family as they battle addiction, illness, and regret. Audiences witness the Tyrone family over the course of one day in August 1912 in their summer home. Derron Wood will direct the cast featuring Anne Flammang, Christie Williams, Victor Chiburis, Eric Michaelian and Madeleine Dauer.

The show is presented in cooperatio­n with the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. The Monte Cristo Cottage is at 325 Pequot Ave., New London.
