CASI­NOS’ SLOTS REV­ENUE SHOWED IN­CREASE IN MARCH

Slot-ma­chine rev­enues were up last month at south­east­ern Con­necti­cut's casi­nos.

Fox­woods Re­sort Casino re­ported that it “won,” or kept, $43.6 mil­lion in slots rev­enue af­ter pay­ing out prizes, a 12.6 per­cent in­crease over the $38.7 mil­lion it kept in March 2017.

Mo­he­gan Sun won $54.8 mil­lion last month, up 4.2 per­cent over the $52.6 mil­lion it kept the same month a year ago.

“Han­dle” — the to­tal amount of wa­gers be­fore prizes are paid out — was up 4.4 per­cent at Fox­woods and 5.9 per­cent at Mo­he­gan Sun.

Fox­woods has posted yearover-year in­creases in seven of the last nine months, start­ing with July 2017, the start of the state's fis­cal year. Over the same pe­riod, Mo­he­gan Sun has posted in­creases in five months.

The casi­nos pay 25 per­cent of their slots win to the state. Mo­he­gan Sun con­trib­uted more than $13.7 mil­lion in March, while Fox­woods made a pay­ment of $10.9 mil­lion.
