Ap­pli­cants in­ter­ested in serv­ing on the Mid-At­lantic Fish­ery Man­age­ment Coun­cil's ad­vi­sory pan­els have un­til Fri­day to ap­ply. The pan­els pro­vide in­for­ma­tion and rec­om­men­da­tions to the coun­cil dur­ing the de­vel­op­ment of fish­ery man­age­ment plans, amend­ments, spec­i­fi­ca­tions, and man­age­ment mea­sures, and help de­velop the an­nual Fish­ery Per­for­mance Re­ports that pro­vide the coun­cil with in­for­ma­tion about fish­ing and catch re­sults each year.

Mem­bers of the pan­els in­clude com­mer­cial fish­er­men, recre­ational an­glers, for-hire op­er­a­tors, deal­ers, sci­en­tists, en­vi­ron­men­tal­ists, and other mem­bers of the pub­lic. Most ad­vi­sory pan­els meet one or two times a year, and mem­bers are com­pen­sated for travel and per diem ex­penses.

The coun­cil is ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions for the fol­low­ing ad­vi­sory pan­els:• Sum­mer Floun­der, Scup, and Black Sea Bass• Mack­erel, Squid, and But­ter­fish• Sur­f­clam and Ocean Qua­hog• Tile­fish• Blue­fish• Ecosys­tem and Ocean Plan­ning• River Her­ring and Shad• Dog­fishThose in­ter­ested in ap­ply­ing to serve a three-year term on one of the pan­els can ap­ply on­line at or get an ap­pli­ca­tion by call­ing the Coun­cil of­fice at (877) 446-2362.
