Niantic — Daniel W. Santos, 75, of Niantic, found eternal peace on Friday, May 25, 2018. Born on July 6, 1942, he was the oldest son of Daniel and Alice Bouge Santos. He married Judith Arneth on Sept. 16, 1964, in Toms River, N.J.

He attended school in Waterford, where he graduated from Waterford High School in 1960. He earned his Eagle Scout award from Troop 36 in Waterford. Dan enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Lake Champlain from 1960 to 1964. He was employed at Electric Boat as a piping inspector for 30 years. From 1998 to 2014, he was self-employed at Dan’s Lawncare Service.

Dan was a coach in the Waterford Babe Ruth League for three years in the early 1980s. He was a member of the Internatio­nal Golf Club. Dan and Judy enjoyed spending their winters in Haines City, Fla.

Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith (Arneth) Santos; and their four children, Daniel W. Santos III (Traci) of Waterford, John Santos (Leanne) of East Lyme, Cheryl Fernald (Dale Ferland) of Walpole, N.H., and Jeffrey Santos (Dana) of Quaker Hill. He is also survived by nine grandchild­ren, Daniel and Alyssa Santos, John, Jacqueline and Kylee Santos, Kaleigh (Justin) Canfield and Ryan (Arianna) Fernald, and Chelsea and Lauren Santos. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Pam) Santos of Nashville, Tenn., and his sister Debbie (Scott) Seeyle of Puyallup, Wash. He was predecease­d by his parents and his brother John Santos.

The family would like to thank Kindred at Home, especially Wanda Green and Jen Jerome who have become like family; Fairview Nursing Facility in Groton, especially Tina Hall and Andrea; and Hebrew Healthcare in West Hartford, for their wonderful care during Dan’s long illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Fairview Nursing Facility or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

At Dan’s request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Saint Agnes Church in Niantic.

The Thomas L. Neilan and Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, is assisting the family with the arrangemen­ts.
