Peggy Johnson
Groton — Peggy Lynn Johnson, 63, of Groton, passed away on Sunday evening, July 8, 2018, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London.
Peggy was born in San Diego, Calif., on March 3, 1955, to William and Vera (Gray) Thompson.
She worked a few different jobs over the years, and had a reputation for being a very hard-working person who took pride in her work. Peggy worked as a surveyor for the Town of Groton, a pipefitter for Electric Boat and DECCO Inc., and a bartender for Appy’s Café.
Aside from work, Peggy loved life. She was a member of Calvary Chapel in Montville for many years. She was also an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Harley motorcycles and nature. Peggy was a very strong individual with a heart of gold. She fought from the very beginning all the way to the very end.
Peggy is survived by her two daughters, Kristin Johnson of Baltic and Sarah Johnson and her partner, Luke Shultz, of East Lyme; two grandchildren, Keana Conyers and Anthony Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Roman Cruz and Zaide Conyers.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her grandson, Gregory Cruz.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers that helped Peggy over the past few years. If Peggy could leave one last message that lived on, it would be “WEAR A HELMET.”
