Westerly — Douglas William George Fraser passed away in Westerly on Tuesday, July 3, 2018.

He was born in 1953 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Douglas, together with his parents, Margaret and George and his younger brother, Andrew, immigrated to the United States on July 4, 1965, becoming citizens in 1976.

Douglas resided in Norwich and attended NFA, graduating in 1971. He went on to obtain many certificat­ions in HVAC and propane. Douglas was the manager of Osterman Propane in Oakdale before retiring in 2010.

Douglas obtained his profession­al captain’s license and was a member of the Westerly Yacht Club where he enjoyed playing Santa each year for the club. Douglas’ pride and joy was his express cruiser, Starcrest, named after a boat owned by his father, George, in Scotland. Douglas could be found most weekends in the summer on Starcrest at Napatree Point surrounded by friends.

Douglas is survived by his brother, Andrew; his longtime partner, Linda Landry, with whom he shared his life; his nephew, Alex and niece, Anna; and more friends than could be listed here. He will be missed by all.

A celebratio­n of Douglas’ life will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 30, at the WYC, 1 Watch Hill Road, Westerly.
