Madelyn Brown
Montville — Madelyn C. Brown of Uncasville, beloved wife of the late John F. Brown, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018.
Born in Linden, N.J., she was the daughter of Julius and Mary (Karkovich) Banovsky.
Madelyn dedicated her life to caring for the sick and held numerous positions in the health care industry. She served as the assistant director of nurses at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in New Jersey, as well as the clinical nurse coordinator at the Norwich State Hospital. Madelyn also worked as a visiting nurse for United Community & Family Services of Norwich and for Shoreline VNA of New London. She spent most of her later years caring for her husband, John, who was a paraplegic. Madelyn loved her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Madelyn is survived by her son, Charles A. Zingrone and wife, Marisol, of Hammonton, N.J.; stepsons John H. Brown and wife, Barbara, of Oakdale and James M. Brown and wife, Nina, of Norwich; stepdaughter Shawn E. Brown and husband, Jan Presser, of Malden, Mass.; sisters Helen Barfield of Houston, Texas, Betty Martin and husband, Henry, of Ronkonkoma, Long Island and Joy Sutherland and husband, Jim, of Pennellville, N.Y.; sister-in-law Ann Hallisey and husband, Bill, of Uncasville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madelyn was also predeceased by her son, John F. Zingrone Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville. Guests may arrive directly at church in the morning. A private burial ceremony for her family will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich.
