Charles LaPlante
East Lyme — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Charles “Chuck” J. LaPlante, 95, of Niantic, on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018. Charles passed away peacefully after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Joseph and May LaPlante.
Charles was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Claire.
He leaves behind two sons, Charles LaPlante Jr. of Niantic and Craig LaPlante and his wife, Holly, of Oakdale; a daughter, Colleen Gregson and her husband, Brian, of Southington; two sisters, Zelda Murtha and Shirley Nott; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a very dear friend Helen Spinato.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Pfizer and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. He was a volunteer and active member of the East Lyme Senior Center and a member of the American Legion.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Agnes Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the East Lyme Senior Center.
