The NFA girls’ soccer

team edges Woodstock Academy 1-0 Wednesday to hand the Centaurs their first loss of the season.

Norwich — Kayla Park scored late in the first half and the Norwich Free Academy defense held as the Wildcats topped Woodstock Academy 1-0 in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Di- vision I girls' soccer game Wednesday, handing the Centaurs their first loss of the season.

Allyson Knorr-Anderson made 11 saves for NFA (9-5-2, 4-1-1). Woodstock, the division champion, is 13-1-2, 5-1. In other games: • Mya Johnson and Dani McCarthy each had a goal and an assist as Old Lyme downed Cheshire 3-1 in a nonleague game. Britney DeRoehn scored for Old Lyme (8-4-4) and Sam Gray had 13 saves. Caroline Campion scored and Seymone Rosenberg had five saves for Cheshire (7-5-4).

• Nicole Li and Khay Hatcher scored first-half goals for Waterford and the Lancers topped Bacon Academy 2-1 to celebrate Senior Night by qualifying for the state tournament. Ciana Chiappone and Li added assists and Mya Rheaume made five saves for Waterford (6-9-1, 3-4-1 ECC Division II).

H.S. volleyball

• Olivia Carney had 28 assists and Nora Ryan added 13 kills as Fitch swept Valley Regional 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 in a nonleague match. Ciarra Jimenez had nine kills for Fitch (10-7) and Marlo Sim added nine digs.

• Kamryn Ebersole had 28 assists and Sydney Iannantuon­o added 16 digs and 15 kills as East Lyme beat Amity 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 in a nonleague match. Sophie Dubreuil had 27 kills for East Lyme (15-3) and Mya Delesderni­er added 12 kills. The Spartans (13-5) were the CIAC Class LL runners-up last season.

• Katie Reid had nine assists as Old Lyme beat Aerospace 25-17, 15-25, 25-16, 25-17 in a nonleague match. Emily Evers had five aces and Taylor Thompson five kills for Old Lyme (2-16).

• Mackenzie Ullrich had 10 aces, eight kills, eight assists and seven digs as Montville beat Norwich Tech 25-15, 2511, 25-15 in a nonleague match. Haley Kerwin had 11 digs, four kills and four aces for Montville (14-6) and Ashley Rogers had nine assists and six aces. Shay Gaboury had four digs, a kill and a dig, Emma McKenzie six digs and Joharys Perez four aces for the Warriors (8-10).

• Hand beat Ledyard 2517, 25-17, 15-25, 19-25, 15-4 in a nonleague match. Katie Krupansky had 10 kills and eight digs, Maylyn Hadash 12 assists and five aces and Miranda Chesnut five blocks and four aces for Ledyard (12-8).

H.S. field hockey

• Chloe McCue and Molly Quiles each had a goal and an assist as Waterford topped Woodstock Academy 4-2 Tuesday. The Lancers led 3-0 at halftime.

Cassidy Susi and Sophia Hathaway also scored for Waterford, with Hathaway, a freshman, picking up her first varsity goal.

Men’s soccer

• Christian Urena weaved through traffic to score an unassisted goal at 56 minutes, 14 seconds to give Mitchell College its 1-0 win over Becker in a New England Collegiate Conference game.

Preston's Seth Strader had seven saves for Mitchell (7-80, 5-2-0).

College field hockey

• Connecticu­t College sophomore Caroline Ferro scored two goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, and Andi McGraw made a key stop on a breakaway down the stretch in a 3-2 season-ending victory over Wesleyan.

Meghan Gazard also scored for Conn (4-11 overall, 1-9 NESCAC), which graduates five seniors.
