FOXWOODS, TRIBE TO CELEBRATE VETERANS WITH PUBLIC EVENTS
Mashantucket — Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe invite the public to a Veterans Powwow on Saturday and their ninth annual Veterans Day Parade at 11 a.m. Monday.
The powwow will take place at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. Admission and selected food items will be free for veterans and active-duty military with a valid ID, plus one guest. All veterans in attendance will be recognized and encouraged to participate in programs throughout the day.
The parade, which will recognize current members of the military and veterans, will begin at Foxwoods’ Grand Pequot concourse, continue through parts of the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods and along the retail concourse to Cedar Square and finish at the Celebration Zone on the Great Cedar retail concourse. The parade will feature local veterans, local veteran organizations, the tribal police department, Tribal Council, tribal elders and Mashantucket royalty, tribal honor guard and youth dancers. Joey Carter, retired from the U.S. Army, will act as grand marshal.
