Mystic — Constance Ada Watrous, 86, of Mystic, passed away at her residence on Saturday morning, Nov. 10, 2018.

Constance was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Ledyard, the daughter of Dudley E. and Martha (Prosser) Watrous.

She graduated from Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School in 1951 and Connecticu­t College for Women in 1955, where she majored in music and violin. She received her master’s degree from Columbia University School of Library Science in 1961 and received an advanced certificat­e in library science in 1975. She also attended Southern Connecticu­t State College for teacher certificat­ion.

Constance was the librarian at the Williams School in 1956 and the librarian/media specialist at Stonington High School from 1957 until retiring in 1992. She also was a life member of both the Connecticu­t Teachers’ Associatio­n and the National Education Associatio­n.

She spent a lifetime spreading God’s word and love to all. She was devoted to her family and had many hobbies including reading, music, handcrafts, knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning and photograph­y.

Constance is survived by her sister, Phebe Watrous of Mystic.

She was predecease­d by her brother, Albert P. Watrous; and her sisters, Martha, Louise and Alice Watrous and Mildred Hall.

Funeral services and interment will be private.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home is in charge of arrangemen­ts.
