Ken graduated from Montville High School in 1988 and the University of Connecticut in 1994, with a degree in civil engineering. After college, and until recently when he left Jacobs Engineering to go into self-employment, he worked for numerous large engineering companies working on unique construction projects involving bridges, pharmaceutical laboratories, and large-scale building construction and refurbishment at the University of Connecticut. His favorite off-time related activity was acquiring deteriorating properties and restoring those to contemporary entities. Some of the projects he was most proud of were the design and construction of his own house on Hopeville Pond, the development of 14 condominiums using the original 1831 Jewett City Bank as the centerpiece, and restoring a number of area mill houses dating from the 1850s.
Ken was a free-spirited, self-motivated individual, who was known throughout the community by his smile and would freely give his time to mentor and assist others less fortunate. He enjoyed fishing, skiing and traveling.
