Jewett City — Leonora “Lee” (Rosol) LaFrancois, 93, of Jewett City passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 surrounded by the comfort of her family she loved so much.

Lee was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Jewett City, the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Glowacka) Rosol. She attended St. Mary Grammar School in Jewett City and graduated from Griswold High School Class of 1943. She wouldn’t hesitate to let you know that she had been voted one of the best dancers in high school. Lee cherished her friendship­s that lasted through the years.

She married Roger V. LaFrancois Sr., on July 7, 1947, in Jackson, Miss. Their lives were full of family celebratio­ns, tons of friends and many athletic activities. He predecease­d her on Nov. 14, 1999.

Before retirement, Lee worked as a dental receptioni­st for Dr. Solomon, Dr. Gallinger, Dr. Chassanoff and Dr. Katzoff of Griswold Dental Associates. She was a member of the Griswold Senior Citizens, the Griswold Historical Society and Friends of Slater Library, often volunteeri­ng at book sales, spaghetti suppers and many other community activities.

Known for her friendly and giving nature, Lee truly delighted in helping others. She enjoyed reading and doing crosswords, keeping up with the news, visiting friends and doting on her cats. She was very proud of her family and their many accomplish­ments.

Lee is survived by her daughter, Linda Christense­n (Mark) of Preston; sons, Kenneth (Kathy) of Canterbury and Roger Jr. (Colleen) of Old Lyme; grandchild­ren, Jeff Christense­n of Preston and Emma Carlson (Corey) of Jewett City; and Roger Jr.’s stepchildr­en, Jeffrey of Jersey City, N.J. and Amanda of Somerville, Mass. She is also survived by her great-granddaugh­ters, Madeline, Stella and Nora, who adoringly knew her as Babchu. She leaves behind a very special niece, Irene Goddette, plus many nieces and nephews.

Lee was predecease­d by her brother, John Rosol; and six sisters, Helen Eastham, Mary Ambot, Bertha Goddette, Emilia Rosol, Genevieve Romeszewsk­i and Lottie Sanders.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Jude Commons, Norwich; Davis Place, Danielson; Hartford Healthcare Hospice Care, Mansfield; as well as Companions & Homemakers, for the care and support of both Lee and the family along the way.

Visiting hours are from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, with a short service to immediatel­y follow at the Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, 490 Voluntown Road, Jewett City. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Lisbon.
