THREE MORE CHARGED IN STABBING AT TANGER OUTLETS
Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police said they have charged three more people in connection with the Oct. 20, 2018, stabbing incident at the Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
All three of the newly arrested suspects were injured in the stabbing, which involved two groups of young people who knew each other from previous incidents, according to court documents. They are Scott Whipple, 20, of Mashantucket, 18-year-old Sakye Reels-Felder of Mashantucket and 18-year-old Devin Rickerson of Ledyard.
They turned themselves in to tribal police on Sunday and Monday after being told the police had obtained warrants for their arrests, according to Police Chief William D. Dittman. They were charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault. All three were released and are due in court on Jan. 28.
The police have a warrant for a fourth suspect, according to Dittman.
In November, police arrested a 15-year-old from Norwich and charged him with using a butterfly knife to stab three people outside the Kate Spade store on the second floor of the Tanger mall.
Miguel Negron is being tried as an adult due to the seriousness of the charges: three counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree assault and breach of peace. He is free on house arrest while his case is pending.
Police said video of the incident shows shoppers running for cover as two groups start to fight. During the incident, they said Negron took out a knife and stabbed three of the four people from the other group, who fought back and kicked him several times as they fled.
Whipple was stabbed in his back and right side and was treated for a “sucking chest wound” that required a drain tube to be inserted into his chest cavity, according to the police reports. Reels-Felder and Rickerson both were treated and released from The William W. Backus Hospital.
Negron was treated for facial injuries and a hand laceration.
NORWICH MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG, GUN CHARGES
Norwich — A city man was arrested Tuesday on multiple gun and drug charges, after police say they found two handguns, 4 grams of cocaine and 3.9 ounces of marijuana packaged for sale in his home and vehicle.
Officers from the State of Connecticut Department of Probation Norwich Office, with help from the state Department of Corrections Parole, searched the residence and vehicle of Donnie Moore, 22, of 16 Laurel Hill Ave., No. 1, according to the police report. The drugs and guns were seized as evidence.
Moore was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of more than 1/2 ounce marijuana, and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to police.
He was held on a $250,000 bond and given a court date of Jan. 24.
