David A. Cyr
Portsmouth, N.H. — David A. Cyr, 80, of Jones Avenue, died peacefully Feb. 9, 2019, at Clipper Harbor in Portsmouth, N.H.
Born Feb. 6, 1939, in Presque Isle, Maine, he was the son of the late Ralph and Hazel (Dow) Cyr.
David and his wife, Catherine moved to Connecticut in 1962, and in 1968 they made their home in Uncasville for over 40 years before moving to New Hampshire.
David was a truck driver and told stories of the many places he has been. David enjoyed fishing, especially with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Sharp) Cyr of Portsmouth N.H.; three daughters, Tammy Kemp (Stanley) of Pomfret Center, Pamela Stanton (Thomas) of Niantic, Lori Parent (Sheldon) of Epping N.H.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Howlett (Ronald) of Clifton Springs, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was predeceased by his twin brother, Daniel Cyr; brother Carlton Cyr; sister June Cyr; granddaughter Patricia Watrous; and grandson Justin Shaffer.
Visiting hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Road, Newmarket, N.H. A celebration of life will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at a later date in Comstock Cemetery in Uncasville.
