Waterford routs East Lyme 18-9 to earn share of ECC Division I boys' lacrosse title

Lancers also clinch at least share of Div. I title

Waterford — Caleb Holdridge, Kyle Jacobson and Mason LaForte combined for 15 goals as Waterford beat East Lyme 18-9 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I boys' lacrosse game on Tuesday.

It's Waterford first win over East Lyme in program history and moves Waterford (14-1, 7-1) into first place in the division. It also clinched at least a share of the Div. I title and the top seed in the ECC tournament. East Lyme (7-8, 6-1) can clinch a share of the title by beating Fitch on Thursday. East Lyme beat Waterford 13-12 on April 23.

Holdridge had four goals and five assists, Jacobson had six goals and two assists, LaForte had five goals and an assist, Ryan Huta scored twice, Zander Stringer had a goal and Cooper Alloway had nine saves for Waterford, which scored the last five goals on the game. Alec Kosinski scored four goals, Matt Valakos and James McCoy had two goals each, Scott Galbo had two assists, Robbie Swenson had a goal and two assists and Mac Fusaro and Eric Broderick combined for seven saves for East Lyme. In other games: • Old Lyme lost to Morgan 6-5 in a Shoreline Conference match. Owen Macadam scored three goals and Henry Lahm scored twice for Old Lyme (7-8, 7-5).

• James Deichler had four goals and two assists as Fitch defeated Woodstock Academy 10-8 in an ECC Division I game. Devyn Jordan added three goals and two assists for the Falcons (5-9, 3-4) whle Will Miner had one goal and three assists, Josh Letellier had two goals and one assist and goalie Jack Casey made 12 saves.

• Nolan Mocksfield scored five goals as Bacon Academy defeated Montville 19-4 in an ECC Division III game. Derek Debbis had three goals for the Indians (2-12, 0-7).

Girls

• Lydia Tinnerello had four goals and an assist as Old Lyme beat Morgan 12-8 in a Shoreline Conference game. Bella Arias scored three times, Anna Sather had two goals and an assist and Hayden Saunders made eight saves for the Wildcats (10-5, 7-2).

• Kristen Healy scored four goals as East Lyme beat Mercy 12-7 in a nonleague game. Dylan Park and Nancy Alden had two goals each, Natale Taylor had a goal and four assists, Abby Mountain had a goal and two assists and Maya Rose made seven saves for East Lyme (123).

• Williams School ended its regular season with a 12-1 win over St. Andrew's on Monday. Sophie Salgar had four goals and two assists for the Blues, who visit MacDuffie on Wednesday in the first round of the SENE tournament, while Morgan Pill scored three goals, Caitlin Kressley had two goals and two assists, Audrey Matson had one goal and two assists, Rachel Luxton had one goal, one assist and four draw controls, and Navia Ladd scored goal one.
