East Lyme advances to Babe Ruth (14) championsh­ip game

Stonington — East Lyme advanced to the District 6 Babe Ruth baseball tournament title game, beating Pawcatuck 12-1 in pool play on Wednesday night.

Alex Dreyfus was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits and one run over five innings with three strikeouts. East Lyme, which went 2-0 in the three-team pool play, had 16 hits. Dreyfus had three hits and teammates Connor Tukey, Jaden Reyes, Jonah Lathrop, Santi Rodriguez and Sebby DeCosta had two hits each. Wyatt Verbridge had two hits, including a double, for Pawcatuck and teammate Noah Christina drove in a run.

Waterford hosts East Lyme in the title game Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

District 6 Babe Ruth (13-15)

• New London beat Pawcatuck 6-4 in nine innings in a losers' bracket game. Guiseppi Satti pitched the first 5.1 innings and drove in the winning run and Yanury Cardenales was the winning pitcher. Nakhi Synder had three hits for Pawcatuck.

District 10 LL softball (10-12)

• Alexa Collins pitched a two-hitter with10 strikeouts as Waterford beat East Lyme 3-0 in a winners' bracket game. Zoe Zito homered for Waterford. Abby Robinson pitched five innings for East Lyme with seven strikeouts and teammate Emma Bayor doubled.

Tigers down Lake Monsters

• Kona Quiggle hit a two-run home run as the Connecticu­t Tigers beat the Vermont Lake Monsters on Tuesday night, 6-3, in a New York-Penn League game. Jake Holton had a single, two runs and an RBI for the Tigers (4-7) and Ryan Kreidler singled and scored twice. Cooper Johnson also doubled and scored, and Jack O'Loughlin scattered three hits over five innings with four strikeouts and one earned run to pick up his first of the season. Kyle McCann hit a two-run home run for the Lake Monsters (5-6).
