Wethersfie­ld — Lewis Ira Davidson of Wethersfie­ld passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Aug. 16, 2019, at the age of 67. Lewis was predecease­d by his mother and father, June and Harold Davidson.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Davidson. Lewis is lovingly remembered by his daughter and sonin-law, Ali and Greg Bendett. He also leaves behind three brothers, three stepchildr­en, nieces and nephews, extended family and an abundance of friends and business associates.

Lewis was born in Hartford in 1952. He graduated from Robinson High School in 1970 and graduated in 1974 from the University of Michigan, where he proudly played college football. He pursued his love for cars as a dealer and manager for Chevrolet for more than 40 years. He was currently the commercial and fleet Mmnager at Grossman Chevrolet/Nissan in Old Saybrook. In addition to his work for Chevrolet, Lewis owned several businesses, for one for which he was featured on “60 Minutes” as the “Repo Man.” Lewis deeply enjoyed serving as the past commodore of Essex Corinthian Yacht Club and had a great love for politics.

More recently, Lewis had enjoyed spending time with his wife, Joanne, boating, driving the Corvette, tailgating at UConn football games, and vacationin­g in Cape Cod.

Lewis had a charismati­c personalit­y, which touched many people’s lives. He was able to captivate anyone he met with his smile and memories of people, places and things.

Our heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors and staff at the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, CB2 and CB6 and also to The Jefferson House staff for their loving care.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, 79 Retreat Ave., Hartford, CT 06106 or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
