Montville girls edge Griswold 3-2 and hold down first place in ECC Div. III soccer race

Griswold — Montville remained atop the Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division III girls' soccer standings with a 3-2 victory over Griswold on Wednesday afternoon.

Alexis DeLucia had a goal and an assist for the Indians (4-6-2, 4-0-2), who held a 23-10 edge in shots, while Madison Gressly and Jill Murallo each scored a goal, Kelsey Chiasson had an assist and goalie Julie Beaupre made 10 saves.

In other games:

• Fitch and Norwich Free Academy played to a 2-2 tie in an ECC Division I matchup.

Mackenzie Teper scored both goals for NFA (4-5-3, 1-2-2) with assists going to Alyssa Newson and Hannah Daniewicz, while Madelyn Catlett scored both goals for Fitch (4-7-1, 1-31), assisted by Kelsi Ursini and Madison Lynch.

• Madison Perkins broke a 1-1 tie to lift Wheeler to its first win, a 2-1 victory over Putnam in ECC Division IV. Kaitlin Melinosky also scored for the Lions (1-10, 1-5) and goalie Addie Hauptmann made 13 saves.

• Lindsay Clement had two goals and an assist, Carolina Codner scored two goals and Erin Londregan had three assists as St. Bernard defeated New London 5-0 in ECC Division III. Aaliyah Masters also scored for the Saints (5-4-2, 3-1-2), Elizabeth Hannaford had an assist and goalies Lindsay Reilly and Chloe Jennings combined for eight saves. Jaelynn Potter made 10 saves in goal for New London (3-7-1, 1-5-1).

• Emily Gates, with Claudia Blazquez assisting, scored with 12 minutes remaining to give Waterford a 1-0 win over Stonington in ECC Division II. McKenzie Gregory and Mya Rheaume combined to make five saves in goal for Waterford (45-3, 2-2-3), which held a 14-8 edge in shorts, while Tori LoPresto made four saves for Stonington (5-7, 2-4).

• Williams School improved to 6-31 with a 5-0 win over St. Andrew's. Skylar Frost scored two goals for the Blues while Audrey Matson added a goal and an assist, Sarah Cole and Morgan Pill each scored a goal, Ellie Fader had an assist and goalie Lucy Fader made seven saves.

Boys

• Scott Pion, Matt Pierce and Ian Spracklin all scored for Wheeler in its 3-0 win over Tourtellot­te in an ECC Division IV game. Ethan Foberg had an assist and Bowen Baker three saves for Wheeler (6-4-1, 5-0-1).
