NEW LONDON POLICE SEEK ROBBER OF CONVENIENC­E STORE

New London — Police say a man walked into a Bank Street convenienc­e store Saturday night and stole cash from the register before fleeing.

Police said that at approximat­ely 8:24 p.m. they responded to the Mi Gente Market at 189 Bank St. for a reported robbery. Police said the man who stole the money had fled before they arrived. Police said no weapons were involved.

Police described the suspect as heavy-set Hispanic man with a beard, about 45 years old and wearing a distinctiv­e gray/ black hoodie which appears to have the multicolor­ed letters “amp” on the back.

Police said the man walked into the store and demanded money from the clerk. Surveillan­ce video shows him reaching into the cash register and taking money. He then fled on foot.
