Silence about fellow Democrats a concern This local veteran is no Joe Courtney fan
Is Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar hurting America? How about colleague Rashida Tlaib, you know, members of “The Squad?” I can look past their rampant socialist ideas because the American people will never cave in to that nonsense. But it is what I consider their outspoken anti-Semitism that is unforgiveable and unforgettable.
I can survive closet anti-Semites as long as they avoid me and don’t cause violence. But the publication by the media of the Squad’s anti-Semitic pronouncements serves to recruit more to their thinking, and gives others the idea that it’s OK.
Now, I ask, where do our elected congresspeople stand on this issue, our representatives and senators? Why aren’t they speaking out about these provocateurs? Is it that they are all Democrats? Where are the voices of Reps. Courtney, DeLauro, Larson, Himes, Hayes; Sens. Blumenthal and Murphy?
How can they expect our support when they don’t speak out against these deniers of our constitutional principles? Martin shapiro Norwich
As a disabled veteran draftee, and having absolutely no representation in Washington from this state, I applaud Martin C. Shapiro’s letter to The Day, “Courtney just lost a lot of votes,” Dec. 19.
From my experience, Rep. Joe Courtney and his office staff are a bunch of socialists who have no respect for veterans, unless they are fellow socialists.
As far as I’m concerned, they don’t exist. They are useless and partisan. I don’t like the tone of their leftist agenda. I blocked their phone numbers and email addresses about a year and a half ago. I don’t know what we need all these submarines for anyway.
After the experiences of the Cold
War, I cannot fathom why the Democrats in Connecticut are so anxious to embrace Communism. At least veterans can get action from the White House VA Hotline. The New London Vets Clinic is too small, overloaded and understaffed. And Joe won’t do anything about it.
Do you need 12 more years, congressman? You have known about this problem for years and chose to do nothing to fix it! Joe, as Greta Thunberg would say: “This is all wrong, how dare you!”
Maybe it’s time to move the Submarine Base and Electric Boat to a Red State, and Joe back to Vernon. william C. simpson Groton
