NFA PLAYSHOP TO HOLD WINTER PLAY JAN. 24-25
Norwich — The Norwich Free Academy Playshop will present David Ives’ “All in The Timing” on Friday, Jan. 24, and Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. in Slater Auditorium.
“This production is a spotlight show for the new Acting 3 class, which includes 21 advanced acting students, 17 seniors and four juniors,” Philip Trostler, drama teacher and director, said in a news release announcing the performances. “Each year, this class will be responsible for our winter show, with it acting as both a final exam and a chance to showcase their skills.”
“All in The Timing” is a collection of eight inventive short plays with a focus on wordplay and comedic timing. Plays involved include:
“Sure Thing,” in which a man’s attempt to meet a woman for the first time at a café is helped by the scene resetting every time either says the wrong thing.
“The Universal Language,” in which a shy woman finds herself involved in a language learning class based around the invented language Unamunda.
“Variations on the Death of Trotsky,” in which revolutionary Leon Trotsky is shocked when his wife finds information about his death in an encyclopedia.
“Mere Mortals,” in which three blue-collar construction workers believe they are really the Lindbergh baby, the son of Czar Nicholas II and the reincarnation of Marie Antoinette.
“A Singular Kind of Guy,” which is a monologue about a man who believes he actually is a typewriter.
Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for adults and $5 for students, children and seniors.
