For over four decades, Tagliatela has been dedicated to promoting the Connecticut marine industry. His ongoing commitment earned Saybrook Point Marina the distinction of Connecticut’s first Certified Clean Marina in 2003. Tagliatela’s leadership extends to the Connecticut tourism industry, where he formed the state’s first-ever Connecticut Tourism Coalition. Tagliatela also manages the Louis F. and Mary A. Tagliatela Foundation, which helps preserve and protect The Preserve, a 1,000-acre coastal forest along the towns of Old Saybrook, Essex and Westbrook. Dawn Schieferdecker, formerly of Essex Island Marine, American Boating Service and MarineMax, was also honored with the 2019 Jeanne Czel Person of the Year award.
The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is seeking nominations for its Regional Chamber Awards, the ECTys. Anne Penniman Associates LLC of Essex received a Merit Award in the 2020
Connecticut ASLA Professional Awards. The award was in the Landscape Architectural Design/Residential category for Re-envisioning a Hamptons Landscape in Southampton, N.Y. Anthony Madore of East Lyme, a student at the University of Connecticut, received a Merit Award for for Farm River Resilience in the student competition.
