SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT FOOTBALL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE DINNER IS CANCELED
The Southeastern Connecticut Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame announced Tuesday morning that it has canceled its annual awards banquet as local communities deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was scheduled for Sunday, April 26, at Lake of Isles in North Stonington.
Despite the cancellation, the chapter is still recognizing the top scholar-athletes for 2019 and will provide a plaque for each school to present the student-athlete at a future date.
Coast Guard Academy's Andre Horner was a recipient along with the following high school scholar-athletes: Andrew Cote (Norwich Free Academy), Brayden Grim (Ledyard), Noah Violette (Bacon Academy), Cameron Sousa (New London), Scott Galbo (East Lyme), Bryce Sullivan (Montville), Jonathan Creswell (Killingly), Ryan Bakken (Waterford), Cade Wolak (Plainfield), Cameron Aldinger (Fitch), Joshua Curtin (Stonington), Matthew DePonte (Griswold) and Alden Murillo Garcia (Windham).
