A look at developments related to the new coronavirus around New England besides Connecticut and Rhode Island:

Massachusetts

The test to practice law in Massachusetts has been delayed.

The Supreme Judicial Court and the Board of Bar Examiners on Saturday announced the bar examination slated for July has been rescheduled to Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Boston.

The organizations said if the state’s limitations on large gatherings continue into the fall, other alternatives will be devised and announced.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is making one of its recent concerts available online for free.

“Concert For Our City” was videotaped live at Symphony Hall in Boston on Feb. 16.

The orchestra had planned to tour Asia that month but canceled it as the virus spread across the region.

The concert will be available online from this afternoon until May 20 on the orchestra’s website.

Maine

A half-dozen murder trials are among court matters that are being delayed in Maine.

Jury trials and grand jury sessions are not being held in April and May.

The Bangor Daily News reports that six murder trials previously scheduled for April and May include two involving homicides in 2017, the longest pending murder cases in the state.

New Hampshire

A Guatemalan man in New Hampshire is seeking release from federal immigration detention over concerns of contracting the new coronavirus in jail.

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Hampshire said Saturday it has filed an emergency federal lawsuit for Pedro Gonzalez Guarcas.

The organization says Gonzalez Guarcas is of Mayan descent and came to the U.S. seeking asylum because Mayan communities were persecuted during his country’s civil war.

The ACLU says it’s also asking a judge to consider releasing other immigration detainees being housed at the Strafford County Department of Corrections in Dover, where Gonzalez Guarcas has been detained since Feb. 28.

Prison officials are seeking donations to make masks for New Hampshire inmates. The Department of Corrections said inmates have made about 600 masks for use in the prison system but have run out of polyester or polyester-cotton blend fabric and quarter-inch elastic because their manufacturers have sold out.

The popular Story Land amusement park says it won’t be opening on May 23 as planned. The managers of the theme park in Glen said Friday it’s too soon to say when it might open for the season.
