New London — Jim Nagle, who served as interim coach of the Connecticut College men's lacrosse program the past four months, has been hired to fill the permanent role, athletic director Mo White announced on Friday.

Nagle arrived at Conn after spending eighth seasons as head coach at Division I Stony Brook, where the Seawolves compiled a 68-59 overall record, won three America East regular-season titles and one NCAA tournament bid. He was named America East Coach of the Year twice, including 2019, and coached five All-Americans.

"We are excited to welcome Jim and his family to Connecticut College," White said in a release. "With over 26 years of experience as a head coach at the professional and NCAA Division I, II and III levels, he has a proven track record of building nationally competitive lacrosse programs while developing students of character.

"The impact Jim has had on the program has been transformational and we are confident that he is the right person to lead the program."

Nagle grew up on Long Island, helping Ward Melville High win the 1988 state championship with a perfect 24-0 record, then attended Loyola of Baltimore and helped the Greyhounds reach the NCAA Division I tournament four straight years, including the 1990 national

championship game.

After spending two seasons as an assistant at Springfield College while pursuing his master's degree in physical education, Nagle left to become head coach at Division III Oneonta State, where he was once national Division III National Coach of the Year and was a threetime winner of the SUNYAC Coach of the Year award. He later spent 10 seasons at Colgate, posting an 8664 record and leading the Raiders to their first NCAA tournament appearance.

"Connecticut College is a hidden gem on the Division III landscape," Nagle said. "We have the tremendous support of alumni who are both engaged and influential in the lacrosse community, a beautiful campus with a great location, an extraordinary education, and a lacrosse program on the rise which will be attractive to any prospective lacrosse player. I could not be more excited to start the next chapter of my career at Conn."

Nagle and his wife, Kelly, have three daughters: Jamie, Ryan and Meghan.

In addition to his new job at Conn, Nagle will serve as offensive coordinator with the Boston Cannons of the Major League Lacrosse.
