Robert and Patricia Warakomsky
Captain Robert E. Warakomsky, USCG (Ret.) and his wife, Patricia E. (Goddeau), celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary Aug. 13, 2020. Robert is a 1958 graduate from the Coast Guard Academy, while Pat is a 1959 graduate from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing. They met at a New Year’s Eve party, courted each other by letters while Bob was at sea, and were married eight months later. The wedding was held at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Albany, New York.
Bob’s professional engineering career encompassed two careers: one as a Coast Guard Officer, retiring after 25 years of service; the other in the business world for 27 more years. Pat’s professional nursing career had her working 45 years in the Emergency Department.
Their 60 years of marriage had them living in Boston, Mass.; Cape May, N.J.; Buckinghamshire, England; Juneau, Alaska; Burke, Va., and currently in Ashburn, Va. They have four daughters, four sons-in-law, and ten grandchildren.
For the past 20 years, they have been actively engaged in the George Mason University’s School of Music through volunteer service with the Friends of the Center for the Arts, the Friends of Music at Mason, sponsoring music students at the University, and volunteering with the Friends of the Kennedy Center. Robert served as the President of the Friends of Music and is currently serving as the Vice President. He is also active on the Board at the retirement village where they currently reside.
Family and friends celebrated this momentous occasion with an online Zoom call.
