Salem reaches state Intermedia­te final

Waterford — Salem advanced to the championsh­ip game of the Connecticu­t Intermedia­te Little League baseball tournament with an 11-6 victory over Enfield on Sunday.

A.J. O'Neill had a big game for Salem, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out eight to earn the victory. He also hit a solo home run in the third inning and a two-run homer in the sixth.

John Mastorakis (solo) and Eli Chiaverini (two-run) also homered for Salem and Carson Donat added a pair of hits.

Salem won its opening game on Saturday with an 8-5 win over Bristol. Starting pitcher Gio Facchini hit a two-run homer for Salem and O'Neill hit a solo home run in the fifth.

Aiden Maier reached base three times with two hits, including a two-run double, for Salem while Donat had two more hits and Zach D'Aiuto broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI single in the sixth to make a winner out of Chiaverini, who pitched four innings, including a scoreless sixth and seventh to end the game.

District 10 baseball (10-11)

• Montville defeated Mystic 13-2 on Sunday as Richie Walters III, Chase Malbaurn and Juan Santiago-Droz combined for a one-hitter with eight strikeouts over four innings. Michael Watts, Zeke Johnson and Brody Sobanko each added two hits while combining for 6 RBIs for Montville while Matteo Panciera had the lone hit for Mystic.

• Waterford beat Montville 12-7 on Saturday. Winning pitcher Colby Sheehan had three hits and scored three runs for Waterford while Brooks Lane had a single, two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Hunter Sylvia had two doubles and a single for Montville, Mike Watts hit a home run and Izaiah Yard had a tworun double.
