— Jack DaSilva, 76, of Mystic Mystic, husband of Iva (Amaral) DaSilva, passed away at home Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, following a brief illness. Born in Portugal and a soldier of the Portuguese Army, he was the son of the late Alfredo and Maria Jose (Pataca) DaSilva. He came to the United States in 1966, settling in Stonington Borough and eventually in Mystic for the past 44 years.

He began his career at the American Velvet Co. and working part time at Kellems. Jack eventually went on to work for the former Wyman-Gordon (now PCC Structural­s) in the die-casting division up until his retirement at the age of 70, after 30 years of service — an accomplish­ment he was proud of.

Jack will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and always helping others. He enjoyed renovating homes for his family and friends, fishing, crabbing and watching his favorite Portuguese soccer teams.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his three children, Jack DaSilva (Melody) of Pawcatuck, Maria Suggs (Donnell) of Mystic and Julie Dozier (Austin) of Ledyard; a sister, Gloria Julio of Chicopee, Mass.; his beloved grandchild­ren: Isaiah Perkins, Essence Hill, Sabrenna Moreau (Jacob), Victoria and Manuel DaSilva, Tiari Collins, Zhyair DaSilva, Kaliani Suggs, Donnell Suggs and Coral Dozier; his great-grandchild­ren, Landon, Braylen and Lila; his sisters-in-law: Darcelina and Ilda DaSilva, Paulina Cruz (Joe), Judith Mitchell (Bill), Maria Mitchell, Nancy Amaral and Zelinda Leite; brothers-in-law, George Amaral (Thora) and Tony Amaral (Theresa); goddaughte­r Melissa Leandro; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and many friends. He was predecease­d by his three brothers, Manuel, John (Antonia) and Alfredo DaSilva; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Barrett (Charlie) and Isabel Policarpo (Joe); four brothers-in-law, Jose Julio, Louis Mitchell, Mario Amaral and Joe Leite; and godson Louis Mitchell Jr.

A graveside service will be held privately at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. There are no calling hours for Jack. The Mystic Funeral Home has charge of Jack’s arrangemen­ts.
