Christ Cantres-Vega

-

Groton — Christ Cantres-Vega, 22, of Groton passed away April 10, 2021.

Born Sept. 29, 1998, to Tania Vega and Alberto Cantres in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Christ attended local schools and was a local athlete. He graduated from Waterford High School. He was enrolled at Lincoln Tech and was in the process of getting his welding certification.

Christ is survived by his mother, Tania; his stepfather, Michael; and his four siblings, Daneshka, Steve, Derek Nunez and Jose Vega; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He is also survived by the love of his life, Sophia.

Christ will be remembered for his infectious smile that could light up any room and his unwavering positive attitude. During his short life, Christ made an impact and anyone that knew him, loved him.

Christ intensely fought osteosarcoma for over a year and a half. He fought long and hard. He was determined to never give up. Unfortunately, April 10, God decided it was time to bring Christ home to Heaven. Although he is now in a better place, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, April 15, and funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, April 16, at Oasis of Restoration, 35 Redden Ave., New London, with burial to follow.
