Noank — Patricia Ann “Pam” Jones left the world peacefully April 13, 2021, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, at the age of 87. She was a caring wife, mother and friend. Patricia was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Feb. 3, 1934. Her father Frederick Minneman served in the military as a commander in the U.S. Navy. Thus, she lived many places as she grew up, from her birthplace in Hawaii, to San Diego, Norfolk, Washington, D.C., and New London.

She graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Va., in 1952, and later attended New London Business College. She married Herbert H. Forsee in 1953, and lived in the Washington, D.C., area until his death in 1960. She then relocated with her parents to New London, where she met and married Glenn Jones in 1963. They were married for 46 years until his death in 2009.

After a brief career in real estate, she worked for more than 20 years as a secretary at the Ledyard Town Hall. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, baking and bowling. She especially enjoyed playing cards, namely bridge. She and Glenn would often play bridge with her parents or groups of friends.

The last five years of her life she spent making lasting friendships and enjoying activities she loved most at Mystic River Homes Congregate in Noank. There, she watched movies, played many games of cards, bingo (winning often), Wii bowling and horse racing. On Sundays, a group of the ladies would get together to order Chinese takeout. She was genuinely engaged with the great community of people at the Congregate. Her favorite activity by far was to work on jigsaw puzzles. She would sit for hours, even setting a timer to be sure she did not forget to go to lunch. She was also an avid reader, and loved Lorna Doone cookies.

She is survived by her son James L. (Larry) Jones (m. Karen Jones) of Salem, and Carolyn E. DeMaio (m. Martin DeMaio) of Newport, R.I.

She leaves six grandchildren: Daniel, Timothy, Candace and Torence Jones, Maxwell and Chloe DeMaio; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Wade. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick L. and Allie O. Minneman; and a sister, Beatrice Minneman.

A graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to: Mystic River Homes Congregate/Program Fund 205 Elm St., Noank, CT 06340, mysticriverhomes.org/ donate.
