Bradenton, Fla. — Barbara E. (Brown) Judge, 96, passed away at Blake Medical Center of Bradenton, Fla., on Sunday, April 11, 2021, following a fall near her home.

The daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth Brown of Meriden, Mrs. Judge majored in economics at Smith College and participat­ed in alumnae activities throughout her life. She supported numerous community, charitable and cultural causes each year. She also enjoyed walking the beaches of Groton Long Point and Anna Maria Island, playing bridge, reading, working in her community libraries and spending time with good friends.

She was predecease­d by her husband and work partner of 51 years, Martin “Peter” Judge, CPA, LLB, of Holyoke, Mass.; her daughter Dr. Mary “Lyn” Judge Corbett; as well as by her brother Robert Brown of Rumford, Maine.

Mrs. Judge is survived by her daughters, Dr. Nancy Judge of Manhattan, N.Y., and Barbara “Cam” Townsend of Bradenton, Fla., and Wakefield, Mass., and their husbands, David Wood and Mitchell Townsend; as well as five grandchild­ren; and two great-grandchild­ren. She also leaves her younger sister, Marjorie Fox of Norfolk, Va.; seven nieces and nephews; two step-grandchild­ren and their families.

Her family, classmates and friends will greatly miss her and the love, generosity, perceptive­ness, wit and organizati­onal ability she brought to their lives. She was an inspiratio­n to her many friends.

Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery of South Hadley, Mass. Services are private. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangemen­ts.
