Stonington — Michael “Mike” A. Vargas, 58, lifelong resident of Stonington, died unexpected­ly Thursday, April 15, 2021, at home. Born in Indonesia, he was the son of the late Austin and Patricia (Faulkner) Vargas.

Mike was in the heating and cooling business, operating Comfort Pro in Stonington for over 30 years. Mike had a big heart, a keen mind and sharp wit, always seeing some humor in the world around him. He loved and was loved by his family and friends. Mike was an avid biker and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle­s. He lived life in the moment and pursued various hobbies and passions such as scuba diving, sky diving and lately, piloting his drones. Mike also was a New England Patriots football fan.

He is survived by his four daughters: Jennifer Bray and her husband, Johnathan Bray II, of Plainfield, Jessica Vargas and her boyfriend, Randy Weinberg, both of New London, Angela Connolly and her husband, Graham, of Richmond, R.I., and Katelyn Vargas of Uncasville; his brother David Vargas and his wife, Catherine, of Stonington; sister-in-law Sharon Vargas of Stonington; his four grandchild­ren: Alexander, Madison, Johnathan Bray III and John Connolly II; several nieces; one nephew; and his former wife, Stacie Vargas. Mike was recently predecease­d by his brother Joseph A. Vargas in February.

His family will receive relatives and friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1, in Mystic. Burial will be private.
