Norwich — Jean Noel Wilbur, 79, of Norwich, passed away April 16, 2021, peacefully, in comfort, surrounded by her loving children at Backus Hospital, Norwich. Jean was born Jan. 2, 1942, to Louis and Elsie Comeau (Fritz) in Tarrytown, N.Y.

Jean met Leon R. Wilbur Sr. in Mystic, and later wed. Jean and Leon started a family having four children: Leon R. Jr., Kim, Richard and Kevin, and settling in Norwich. Jean was a proud homemaker, dedicating her life to her children and her home, but first and foremost Jean’s children were her pride and joy. During the holidays, Jean always decorated her home like a winter wonderland for everyone to enjoy. Jean’s door was always open for her family and friends who enjoyed many laughs and good times around the kitchen table. Jean enjoyed playing bingo, going to ceramics class and an occasional trip to the casino for her favorite slot machine.

Jean was predecease­d by her loving husband Leon; and sisters Winnie, Lorraine and Yvonne. She is survived by her children: Leon Jr. of New London, Kim (Pete) Cloutier of Norwich, Richard (Gloria) Wilbur of Norwich and Kevin (Chelsea) Wilbur of Griswold; sisters Thelma Gilleo of Hiram, Ga., and Elsie Holland of Norwich; and grandchild­ren Scott Cloutier, Jamie Wilbur, Alisha, Kiara, Aurea and Kevin Wilbur Jr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom had a special relationsh­ip with Jean that they will forever cherish. Besides her human family, Jean leaves behind her fur baby, Tazzy.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Ave., Norwich. Anyone who wishes to send flowers can have them sent to Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., Norwich.
