Burnt Hills, N.Y. — Wayne A. Pickup, 78, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021. Born in Pawtucket, R.I., he was a Mechanical Engineer with Electric Boat in Groton from 1965 to 1978. In 1978, he moved to Burnt Hills, N.Y., where he worked at KAPL, and was a member of the Health Physics Society until his retirement in 2007.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen Pickup; his children, David, Dana (Jason) Levine, Scott Crandall, Todd (Stacey) Crandall, Barbara (Mark) Storti; his grandchild­ren, Jordan and Emily Crandall, Rachel and Sam Storti, Geoffrey, Christine, Timothy and Matthew Salvatore; and his brother Ron (Audrey) Pickup.

Wayne was an avid UConn women’s basketball and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed reading and playing golf and was most proud of building a wooden boat with his fatherin-law and being recognized as an award-winning Elderberry Wine maker.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
