Pawcatuck — Kevin F. Thibdeau, 67, of Pawcatuck died after a long and courageous battle with cancer Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at the Westerly Health Center. Kevin was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Westerly, the son of Jesse and Frances Beverly (Doherty) Thibdeau.

He grew up in Pawcatuck, and attended West Broad Street School and Pawcatuck Middle School. In 1971, he graduated from Stonington High School followed by H. H. Ellis Regional Technical High School. In 1977, he married his loving wife of 44 years, Cindy (Duguid) Thibdeau.

Kevin worked at Davis Standard and then spent 36 years working for the Town of Stonington Highway Department as an assistant mechanic and snowplow driver, where he made many lifelong friends. He loved cooking and spending time at the Mystic Rod and Gun Club, where he served as the treasurer of the Pistol League. He loved traveling with family on vacations, showing his kids California, Colorado, Maine and New Hampshire, and catching up with anyone he met up with around town or at the local coffee shop. Kevin was an avid Denver Broncos, Boston Red Sox and UConn women’s basketball fan and was a long and dedicated supporter of The Jimmy Fund. He loved spending time with family and friends and always enjoyed the company of his canine companions.

In addition to his wife, Cindy, Kevin is survived by his children, Kevin M. (Johanna), Heather and Haley Thibdeau; brother Robert Thibdeau (Judy); his precious granddaugh­ters, Harper and Avery; mother-in-law Mary Packer of Mystic; three sisters-in-law, Mary Packer, Michelle Packer Frankie (Brian) and Cathy Alosio (Ed); and a brotherin-law, Eric Packer. He was predecease­d by his parents, Jesse and Frances Beverly; and a brother, James Thibdeau. He is also survived by his loving dog Cinnamon.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Dana Farber Hospital in Boston, Yale New Haven Hospital, Westerly Hospital and the Westerly Health Center for their excellent care and compassion. The family would like to especially thank Bob and Erin at Westerly Hospital IV Therapy for their friendship and support.

Kevin’s family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary Church in Stonington. Following his Mass, he will be buried at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. In lieu of flowers, the family would request a donation in his memory to The Jimmy Fund, St. Jude’s or a charity of your choice or send a card to someone sick to cheer up his or her day.
