Alice G. Landers

-

Niantic — Alice Gloria Landers, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, in her family home. Alice G. Landers was an extremely beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor. Alice was a lifelong resident of the quaint East Lyme and Niantic area, as well as an upstanding member of society and the community.

She was an active member of Niantic Community Church for countless years and member of the eastern star. She loved her church and community. Alice spent her life doing kind deeds for the people around her. She was an extremely generous, charitable, loving, kind, intelligent, God-loving woman.

When Alice finally left this earth, she had her family all around her; they all held hands with each other, and hers, as they all whispered final words, such as “Until we meet again,” “I love you,” and “See you soon.” Alice had time to listen to everyone and was humble.

Alice left behind a great deal of people who absolutely loved and adored her, including her husband and lifelong partner of 70 years, Carleton H. Landers, whom she happily doted over, always sure to give him the absolute best care in all matters from cooking and cleaning, to feeding and catering, so loved and adored was he through her eyes. Alice was a loving mother and mother-in-law to her daughter Trudy Greenwood and her husband Kenneth Greenwood, and to her two sons, Greg Landers and the late Glenn Landers. She was close with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One thing that is certain, she was always there for her family, and all loved ones alike.

We take comfort in the knowledge and hope that her son Glenn Landers was awaiting her arrival in heaven due to his untimely passing.

Alice also left behind her sister, Barbra (Yuhas) Shasha and husband Mike Shasha; and her brother Billy Yuhas and his wife Eleanor Yuhas with each she shared a close, loving relationship. Alice had a total of nine siblings. Alice often fondly told stories of their childhood adventures. Her granddaughter Stacey Greenwood, grandson John Greenwood, his wife Laurie Greenwood and great-grandchildren, Katie Greenwood, Karleigh Landers, Amadeus Tulli, and Tolin Greenwood, whom she often referred to as cunning, kind, sweet and funny.

Alice could see all the good underlying the bad, and she loved deeper than anyone could! It was a blessing and an honor to have had her in all our lives. She will be missed. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her.
