Stonington boys win pair of three-set matches to edge Fitch

Groton — Stonington pulled out a pair of three-set victories in doubles to edge Fitch 4-3 in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division I boys' tennis match on Tuesday.

The teams of Chase Donnarummo-Sam Lund and Peter Previty-Peter Schoenecke­r went the distance to win for the Bears (5-3, 2-2), who also picked up a win from Jackson Conlon at No. 3 singles and won the No. 4 singles match by forfeit.

Will Albrikes and Andres Sarder scored singles wins for the Falcons (5-2, 2-2), as did the No. 1 doubles team of Tim Lynch-Douglas Cardona. In other matches:

• Julian Mileski, Matt Bourguigno­n, Damion DePaul and Sebastian Fieldsend led a singles sweep in Ledyard's 6-1 win over Waterford. The Colonels improved to 6-2. The No. 2 doubles duo of Gabriel Parent and Corey Sammataro scored the only point for the Lancers (1-6).

• Charles Hinckley, Griffin McGlinchey, Will Danes and Aidan Kerrigan posted singles wins in Old Lyme's 7-0 sweep of Coginchaug in the Shoreline Conference. The Wildcats (6-4, 5-4) didn't drop a set in the match.

Girls

• St. Bernard won its first match of the season by beating Montville, 6-1, in ECC Division III action. Zhuning Gao, Olivia Busher, Meri Kambolli and Blake Murray led a singles sweep for the Saints (1-5, 1-1). Montville dipped to 2-3, 1-2.

• Tegan Opalenik, Kylee Gill and Sarah Banach didn't lose a game while winning their singles match in Ledyard's 5-2 win over New London in a Division III match. Reanna Robbins also won in straight sets for the Colonels (5-3, 4-1). The doubles duos of Emily Fielding/Taina Smith and Janiellys Morales/Christmael­a Bouquet posted wins for the Whalers (0-9. 0-6).

• Grace Duggan, Mia Lewandowsk­i and Maddie and Marcella Hamm all won their respective singles matches as unbeaten Stonington took down East Lyme, 7-0, in an ECC Division I match. The Bears (8-0, 5-0) also received doubles wins from the teams of Katie Johnstone and Katya Snegovskik­h, Emily Fulling and Erin Motherway and Marina Lewandowsk­i and Lauren Buckley. The Vikings are 5-4, 1-4.

• Callie Bass, Elaina Morosky and Olivia Schaedler won their singles matches, lifting Old Lyme past Coginchaug 6-1 in Shoreline Conference action. The Wildcats (11-0, 10-0) also received doubles wins from Livie Bass-Alexis Fenton, Aggie Hunt-Sawyer Stone and Diya Patel-Taylor Cooney.
