East Lyme avenges loss to Woodstock in ECC Div. I volleyball

Stonington field hockey remains spotless in ECC with a 1-0 win over Fitch

East Lyme — East Lyme avenged its lone Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division I loss in volleyball, beating Woodstock Academy 3-1 on Friday.

The Vikings (11-3, 4-1) won 25-22, 25-21, 25-27 and 25-19. Woodstock beat East Lyme 3-2 on Sept. 26.

Mia Williamson had nine digs, Shae McMunn had 35 assists, Abby Parulis had 12 kills and Skylar Bell had 25 digs for East Lyme.

In other matches:

• Lyman Memorial swept New London 25-11, 25-14 and 25-11 in an ECC Division III match. Serenity Lancaster had eight digs and two kills, Kmara Royster had nine digs, two blocks and two kills and Carolina Lugo had 20 digs for New London (0-12, 0-4).

• Unbeaten Griswold swept Ledyard in an ECC Division II match, winning 25-16, 25-12, 25-12. Kuranda Ruggiero led Griswold (12-0, 4-0) with 23 assists, seven digs and two kills. Makayla Neilson had four kills and two blocks, Kierra Neilson had four kills and four blocks, Abby Matheson had 10 kills, six digs and four aces and Emily Aviles had 14 digs and two, 2 aces. Bryleigh Johnson had 16 digs, Layla Lassisopho­me had six digs and four assists and Emily Peckham had five assists for Ledyard (6-10, 0-5).

• Grasso Tech beat Classical Magnet 3-2, rallying from a 2-0 deficit, in a Connecticu­t Technical Conference match. Jada Muirhead had 17 points, Jamilette Montes had 10 points and Alandra Johnson had six kills for the Eagles (2-11, 2-8), who won 20-25, 1825, 25-18, 25-17 and 15-8.

• Montville swept Putnam in an ECC Division IV match, winning 2514, 25-19, 25-22. Zoie Farrar had 11 digs, six aces and five kills, Ava Collins had five kills, two blocks and two aces and Grace Galvin had 12 digs for Montville (6-10, 3-2).

• Windham handed Wheeler its first ECC Division IV loss, winning 2517, 18-25, 25-17, 25-22. Skyler Morgan had six kills and four blocks and Anna Ruggeri had five aces and 18 assists for Wheeler (9-5, 4-1). The Lions can win the Div. IV title with a win over Putnam on Monday.

• Coginchaug swept Old Lyme in a Shoreline Conference match, winning 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. Peighton Andrews had eight kills and 15 digs, Grace Phaneuf had 12 assists and 11 digs and Jamie Bucior had 14 digs for Old Lyme (5-9, 3-9).

• Fitch swept NFA in an ECC Division I match, winning 25-21, 25-20, 25-9. Isabella Ditmore had 26 assists, Madelyn Aldinger had 15 digs and Annalynn Cahill had 15 kills for Fitch (8-6, 2-3). Emma McAvoy had eight assists, Stella Hogan had four kills and Kala Lansford had four blocks for NFA (3-9, 1-4).

H.S. field hockey

• Stonington remained unbeaten in

ECC play, edging Fitch 1-0. Anna Lettiere’s unassisted goal in the second quarter came when she scored off her own rebound that ricocheted off the right post. Madi Allard made four saves for Stonington (9-2, 9-0) and Abriel Carey made six saves for Fitch (8-3, 6-3).

H.S. swimming

• Waterford beat NFA 106-79 in an ECC meet. Julia Gathy, Victoria Matyakubov and Hannah Bloomberg won events for Waterford (4-4, 3-3) and Gathy, Bloomberg, Elizabeth Saucier and Ava Tucker won the 200 medley relay. Natalie Bezanson and Mercedes Aleksjuka were double winners for NFA (2-5, 1-4). Bezanson won the 200 IM and 500 freestyle and Aleksjuka won the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle. The two also teamed with Dianna Alarcon and Stephanie Wells to win the 400 freestyle relay.

H.S. boys’ cross country

• Fitch lost to Woodstock Academy 22-35 in an ECC Division I meet and beat Windham 18-41. Christian Menounos of Woodstock, which also beat Windham 17-46, won the race with a time of 17:50. Fitch (2-5, 0-3) was led by Kaiden Chandler, who was second in 18:15 and Ryan Dunning (4th, 18:29).

H.S. girls’ cross country

• Wheeler won its final regular season meet with a 15-50 win over Fishers Island at home. Kaitlyn Kumpf won in 22:19 for the Lions followed by Lucy Smith (23:31), Carissa Browne (25:26) and Rose Tardiff (27:40).
