Michael Glynn Jr.

-

— Michael A. New London Glynn Jr., 63, of New London, entered eternal life Dec. 30, 2022, as he passed peacefully surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 5, 1959, the son of Michael Glynn Sr. of Norwich and the late Adrienne (Nocery) Glynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Glynn (Petrucci), whom he married Dec. 23, 2001.

Born and raised in New London, he graduated from New London High School in 1977. He went on to a career as a bridge inspector for the State of Connecticut, where he worked for 32 years before retiring. Mike was an avid fisherman, always dreaming up ways to “fix up the boat” and take friends and family to his secret fishing spots. He loved walking the family dog, Daisy, at any hour, in rain or shine. He was the family jokester, chocolate cake and dessert lover, and the guy everyone could count on to help solve any problem. His greatest roles by far, though, were that of husband, father, grandfather, son and big brother.

Besides his beloved wife and father, he is survived by his daughter Jessica (Robert) Schlink of Mystic; and his three stepchildren, Daniel Henn of Boston, Amy Henn of Waterford, and Alyssa Reil of Voluntown, whom he loved as his own; his grandchildren, Parker and Avery Schlink, were his most recent pride and joy. He is also survived by his four siblings: Edmund (Robin) Glynn of Oakdale, April (Michael) Sander of Seaford, N.Y., Christopher (Christie) Glynn of Norwich, and Daniel Glynn (Jill Shepard) of Higganum, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his son, Eric Glynn, who was born sleeping.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Impellitteri-Malia-Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London.
