Montville — Ronald C. “Ron” Pike of Uncasville, born Aug. 3, 1941, passed away peacefully Jan. 22, 2023, with family by his bedside. Ron was the son of the late Earl and Mary Pike of Preston. A graduate of Norwich Free Academy in 1960, he worked at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division for 35 years.

Ron was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also had a passion for the Boston Celtics, UConn women’s basketball and the New England Patriots and loved to talk about these games to anyone who would listen. Ron was also an excellent chess player, easily reaching tournament levels by today’s standards and who could have undoubtedl­y given Bobby Fischer a run for his money. He was an avid fisherman, winning several Electric Boat Division fishing competitio­ns and could be frequently seen piloting his small boat up and down Haughton’s Cove with several fishing poles.

Ron was fortunate to have spent over 30 years with the love of his life, and a beloved member of our family, Victoria Trottier, who passed in 2020.

Ron is survived by his sons, Ronald W. (Mary) Pike and Todd (Kim) Pike; daughter Jeanine (Michael) Reed. He also leaves behind his sister, Janis (Michael) Pike; brother, Wayne Pike; niece, Heather Pike; grandchild­ren, Vincent, Nicholas, and Stephanie; as well as three great-grandchild­ren, Skyler, Madison and Tessa; and his beloved dog, Bear.

He was predecease­d by his former wife, Ruth Pike (Stannard); and brother, Glen Pike.

Calling hours will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, with a service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Woyasz and Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. Burial will take place after at Poquetanuc­k Cemetery, Route 2A, Preston.

Ron’s family would like to send their sincerest thanks and appreciati­on to the CT Hospice as well as the Visiting Angels, whose love and support to Ron and his family was immeasurab­le during his time of need.
