Francisco Serrano

-

Stonington — Captain Francisco V. Serrano surrendered the helm Feb. 3, 2023, in Melbourne, Fla. He was 56. Frankie was born in New London on Jan. 16, 1967, and lived most of his life in Stonington. He was the son of the late Francis Serrano and Elaine Andrews (McKittrick).

He was predeceased by his brother William Serrano. He is survived by his three sisters, Michelle Woods (David) of Ashaway, R.I., Denise Pagnotta.(John) of Preston, and Elaine Shallenberger (Peter) of Stonington; as well as his niece and three nephews: Shayleen Alfieri, Wesley Wright, Christopher Wright and Tyler Pagnotta; and two great-nephews and one greatniece. He also leaves behind his loyal and spirited canine companion Buddy. Frank kept his family close to his heart.

Frankie had the sea in his blood, and captained many fishing vessels from harbors in New England and Florida. His Atlantic transit aboard the Rainmaker, a small but worthy boat, was legendary. He most recently worked for his friends at Stonington Marine Transport. Like the deep ocean canyons he fished, the hole in our hearts can never be filled.
