Tonight at Bank Square Books in Mystic, Bruce Stark will discuss his new book “The Myth and Reality of Slavery in Eastern Connecticu­t: The Brownes of Salem and Absentee Land Ownership.”

A historian and retired assistant state archivist at the Connecticu­t State Library, Stark draws from a comprehens­ive array of source material as well as his own scholarshi­p to reinterpre­t slavery, tenant farming and absentee land ownership in eastern Connecticu­t.
