History of slavery in eastern Connecticut
Tonight at Bank Square Books in Mystic, Bruce Stark will discuss his new book “The Myth and Reality of Slavery in Eastern Connecticut: The Brownes of Salem and Absentee Land Ownership.”
A historian and retired assistant state archivist at the Connecticut State Library, Stark draws from a comprehensive array of source material as well as his own scholarship to reinterpret slavery, tenant farming and absentee land ownership in eastern Connecticut.
