Young Dubliners and more

- — Kristina Dorsey

So much Irish entertainment, so little time.

But here are a few gigs for you to consider:

The Young Dubliners, one of the best Celtic rock bands out there, will bring their music to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center on Sunday. The setlist promises a mix of music from their past recordings as well as some new material.

Callithumpians, meanwhile, will perform music from Ireland, Scotland, New England and the South in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day Friday at Village Pizza in Preston. This traditional band will then do the same on Saturday night at the Norwich Arts Center. The musicians in Callithumpians are Peter Leibert on anglo concertina and button accordion; Bill Cournoyer, bodhran (Irish drum); Diane Cournoyer, fiddle; and Mike LaFleur, guitar.

If you like Irish step dancing, members of the Spirited Soles Irish Step Dancers will be kicking up their heels Friday at C.C. O’Brien’s in Pawcatuck, and they’ll be featured at Forty Thieves Pub in Groton from 1 to 5 p.m. March 25, along with the traditional Irish band RAM.

And there’s a Shamrock Tea featuring the Blarney Stone band Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church School Hall in New London.
