Catherine Langley

Waterford — Catherine Langley, of Waterford, passed away peacefully March 13, 2023. She was born in Providence, R.I., on April 14, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Domenico and Teresa Gagliardi. She would have celebrated 100 years of life next month.

On Jan. 2, 1971, she married Kenneth E. Langley at

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Providence. She later moved to Waterford, where she resided for the last 51 years. Sadly, her husband Kenneth predeceased her Jan. 17, 2005. Her brothers, Joseph Gagliardi and Philip Gagliardi, also predeceased her.

Catherine was employed at the Sears Roebuck & Company located at the Crystal Mall until her retirement in 1985.

Many nieces and nephews living in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Florida survive her.

Visitation will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 22, at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Huntington St., New London. Burial will follow at the Mausoleum at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Jefferson Avenue, New London.

Catherine lived a life devoted to her Catholic faith. She recited the Holy Rosary multiple times a day, as well as the Chaplet of Divine Mercy each day at 3 p.m. St. Padre Pio was her favorite Saint and she faithfully contributed to the Padre Pio Foundation of America.
