BOYS Division V Windsor Locks 69, Shepaug Valley 58

Sincere Monroe scored 22 points as top-seeded Windsor Locks beat No. 6 Shepaug Valley 6958 on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena to win its second state title.

Evan Courtney had 18 points for Windsor Locks (22-4) and Kyle Hinckley added seven points and eight rebounds.

Phil Ostrosky had 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Spartans (17-8) and Reed Woerner added 13 points and four rebounds.

GIRLS Class LL

Top-seeded Hamden cruised to a 63-48 victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in a battle of unbeatens. It was the first state title in program history for the Green Dragons, who finish 27-0.

Leah Philpotts had 28 points and six rebounds for Hamden, which shot 57% from the floor in the first half to open a 32-14 lead.

Rory Kudzy scored 19 points for Fairfield Ludlowe (26-1), which never led in the game.

Class M East Hampton 31, Valley Regional 29

Liana Salamone had 12 points and 10 rebounds as top-seeded East Hampton held on to beat No. 3 Valley Regional.

Jacque Russell scored 10 for the Bellringer­s (26-1). It was their second state title and the third time they beat their Shoreline Conference rival this season.

Olivia Cunningham had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors (21-5) and Regan Grow added 13 rebounds and five blocks.

Amber Murphy go-ahead layup with 2 minute, 51 seconds left gave East Hampton a 28-27 lead.

Valley had two chances to tie the game or take the lead in the final seconds. It was called for an offensive foul with 6 seconds left, however. It got the ball back after a missed Bellringer­s’ free throw with 4 seconds left but missed a layup to end the game.

Class S

Maeve Staunton had 24 points and 10 assists whle Abby Casper had 25 points and 12 rebouinds to lead No. 10 Northwest Catholic to a 74-65 win over No. 16 Kolbe Cathedral.

NW Catholic (17-8), which captured its fourth straight title, overcame a 15-point deficit in the third quarter by going on a 21-2 run to take control.

Amaris Timmons finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds for Kolbe, which finishes 14-11.

Note: Saturday’s night’s Division I boys’ final between No. 1 East Catholic and No. 1 Northwest Catholic ended too late for this edition.
