Christine James
Old Lyme — Christine “Chris” Crosby James, of Old Lyme, passed unexpectedly March 11, 2023, in Scranton, Pa.
Chris was born in Manchester, March 14, 1962, and grew up on Spruce Street in the same town. She remained a special presence to her family and large circle of childhood friends. After graduating from high school, Chris attended the University of Connecticut and completed her degree in graphic design at Central Connecticut State University. She was a resident of Old Lyme for nearly 30 years and brought her unique sense of humor and loyalty to a new set of friends, hosting many gatherings in the Rogers Lake neighborhood she loved. She was a dedicated caregiver and worked most of her career as a homemaker and companion for elderly persons.
She leaves behind her beloved son, Ian R. James of Boston, Mass.; her dear friend and former husband Dan James of Old Lyme; a stepsister Joanne Crosby Oldenburg and a stepbrother Robert Crosby both of Manchester an uncle Dr. Albert Guay (Carolyn) of Chicago, Ill.; uncle David Guay (Eileen) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; her aunt Lorraine (Guay) Dozois (Roger) of San Diego, Calif.; aunt Alice Butler (David) of Ocean Springs, Miss.; aunt Nancy Guay of Reading, Mass.; her many cousins, Michael Dozois, Dr. Jeffrey Guay, Dr Laura Guay, Cynthia Nelson (Mark), Lisa Blais (William), Pamela Terhune (Jonathan), Meghan Canada (Phillip), Dr. David Guay (Deborah); and her precious four-legged companions, Maeve and CatDog.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Albert Guay and Florence (Dowds) Guay; paternal grandparents, Ernest Crosby Sr. and Grace Crosby; her parents, De-de Pudeler (Guay) and Ernest Crosby; her stepfather Kenneth Pudeler; her uncle Dennis Guay (Phyllis).
Her many friends and family will be celebrating her life Saturday, March 25, and a Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 17 Pickerel Cove Trail, Old Lyme.
