Ledyard girls beat Wheeler/GT to capture ECC Div. III title

North Stonington — Helena Robinson had seven goals and two assists as Ledyard clinched the Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division III girls' lacrosse championsh­ip with a 20-5 victory over Wheeler/Grasso Tech on Saturday morning.

Maddie McLeod added seven goals for the Colonels (11-1, 7-0) while Jess English finished with two goals and four assists, Tatianna Irizarry had three goals and three assists, Jess Dudley scored a goal and goalie Lorelai England made four saves.

In other games:

• Lily Tomczik scored eight goals, including the 200th of her career, but Montville lost to Waterford 12-11 in an ECC Division II game. Montville is 4-7, 3-4 while Waterford improves to 7-4, 4-2.

• Griswold/Norwich Tech defeated New London 17-8 in an ECC Division III game. Sienna Caron had seven goals, two assists and 14 draw controls for the Wolverines (5-5, 3-3) while Keira Fleming added three goals and two assists, Emily Aviles had two goals and three assists and Neiara Myrick scored three goals. Kayla Ferryman scored five goals for the Whalers (0-7, 0-5) and goalie Kim Galarza made 21 saves.

Boys

• Tommy Brunelli had three goals and an assist as Norwich Free Academy outlasted RHAM 10-7 in a nonconfere­nce game. Logan Jenkins added two goals and two assists for the Wildcats (8-3) while Anthony Ballestrin­i had two goals and one assist, Conor Gaughan and Conor Dempsey each had one goal and one assist, Wyatt Woodcock scored a goal and goalie Patrick Lawson made 15 saves.

• Mason Bussman had four goals and an assist to highlight Old Lyme's 12-7 nonconfere­nce win over Montville. John Buckley added three goals and three assists for the Wildcats (2-10) while Luca Signora scored twice and Ben Roth and Coleman Curtis-Reardon each scored once. Christophe­r Baukus and Jayden Sherwood each had two goals and one assist for Montville (4-6) while Gavin DeLucia scored a pair of goals and Ethan Johnson had one.

• Ayden Bousquet had four goals and one assist to lift Waterford past Branford 13-10 in a nonconfere­nce game. Johan Deon added threee goals for the Lancers (9-4) while Tarance Silva and Ben Dubicki scored two goals apiece, Jackson Huta had a goal and two assists, Trevor Stringer had one goal and one assist, Griffin Neal and Rowan Gada each scored a goal and goalie Dylan McCarthy stopped six shots.

• Williams School ended its regular season with a 14-3 win over Rocky Hill (R.I.). Cody DeLaurenti­s scored five goals with nine ground balls and won all eight face-offs for the Blues (8-3) while Ben Xenelis added two goals, one assist and six ground balls, Anthony Luxton and Amand Sarwar each had one goal and one assist and goalie Pearse Rothman made six saves.
