SoSun Lee Andersen
Norwich — SoSun Lee Andersen, age 87, of Norwich, passed away peacefully at her home May 28, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. SoSun was born in Taegu, South Korea, on May 1, 1936.
Following the Korean War, she moved to Lisbon, in 1957, with her then-husband, Raymond H. Andersen Jr. SoSun was a devoted mother of six children, an excellent cook who never needed a recipe, and a part-time chauffeur for those brave enough to get a ride from her. She made her home a meeting place for everyone, making sure each left with a full stomach. SoSun was a brave, beautiful and selfless woman, who valued family above all else. She can rest easy knowing that she passed along her belief that a home-cooked meal is one of the truest expressions of love.
She developed numerous friendships throughout her life and always made a lasting impression on anyone who met her. SoSun is survived by her four children: son Harold Andersen and his wife Robin of Arlington, Va.; daughter Kim Brown and husband Allyn of Preston; daughter Karen McClanahan and her husband David of East Bridgewater, Mass.; and daughter Barbara Grabarek and her partner Ed Kitlinski of Norwich. She loved and doted on her grandchildren: Peter, Sarah, Declan, Gavin and Liam Andersen; Nathan, Steven and Evan Celauro; Lee Grabarek, Anna Brown and Emily McClanahan. She was predeceased by her son James Andersen; daughter Susan Celauro; and granddaughter Sarah Andersen.
Heartfelt gratitude goes to caregiver Faustina “Tina” Andoh, for ensuring SoSun’s later years were filled with great care and dignity. A private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest alongside James, Susan and Sarah.
